A wonderful expedition into the pristine Northern wilderness, driving your own team of sleddogs with an expert polar guide, sleeping in rustic log cabins, enjoying hot lake sauna's and enjoying fine traditional Swedish country cooking.
Your bespoke family adventure begins in the Swedish Arctic outpost of Kiruna where you will be met by your guide and his team and then transfered to the dog kennel, home to over 110 Alaskan racing huskies. After a warm traditional meal of reindeer stew you will kit up in specialist polar clothing and hook up your own dog team and set off into the Arctic wilderness for your first of 3 magical nights on the trail.

Day 1.
Arrival Kiruna airport. Transfer to dogsled Kennel. Late lunch. Instructions how to handle your own dog team and kitting up in polar clothing.Late run to stunning Vakkara wilderness camp, drinks, warm lake-sauna and delicous homecooked meal. Night in family cabin.
Day 2.
After a wholesome breakfast the kids have the option to go ice fishing and then after a warm drink of lingon berry juice you will hook up your team and begin your approx 30km sleddog journey across vast lakes and rivers. lunch on the trail, either in a traditional Sami korta (teepee) or in the open air sitting on reindeer skins where the kids will be taught to prepare a snow fire without matches!
On arrival at our newly restored Sevuvauma Lappish camp-kids can help feed and bed down dogs for the night- then kick back with drinks, take a relaxing lake-sauna and enjoy delicious dinner- overnight at beautiful Sami wilderness camp.
Day 3.
After a good breakfast of hot porridge, lingon berry jam, freshly ground coffee and homemade Lappish breads and pastries, reindeer sausage and local cheeses you then take to the trail for a 30k day long sled back to dog kennel crossing one of the largest lakes in Arctic Sweden. On arrival at the dog kennel camp say goodbye to your dog teams and then drinks at the famous "Absolute" bar at the ice hotel and farewell dinner and sauna in your own family appartment at the dog kennel .
Day 4.
hearty breakfast and a bracing skidoo ride across the frozen Torne river-change into travel cloths and return transfer to Kiruna airport for your flight home.

International flights to Kiruna, personal travel insurance, and guide tips.
Included:
All expert guiding, wilderness accommodation, airport transfers, food, beer and wine and all specialist Arctic clothing (skidoo suit, felt lined Arctic boots, felt lined leather mitts, fur hat and expedtion sleeping bag)
Kit list:
personal merino wool thermals- top and bottoms, fleece jacket, fleece hat and gloves, sun glasses, 3 pairs of thick merino wool socks, light easy to dry windproof trousers, sturdy boots /shoes for arrival in Arctic, personal medication (if applicable) and sun bloc and camera.
Skills:
none. strong confident kids from 10 years old can drive their own dog team (with 2-3 dogs max). smaller children will be transported on a large comfortable family sled with one adult. they will all have a chance to help drive the sled under the safe supervision and discretion of your guide. however-we do advise this trip is really only suitable for children from 5 years old. We suggest the best timeframe for younger children is from mid march to mid april as temperatures are kinder (approx from -20c -0c) in the spring and there is alot more sunlight too!!
