Join legendary skippers Skip Novak and Steve Wilkins on an epic voyage across the Drake Passage and down the Antarctic Peninsula in search of penguins, whales and the ferocious leopard seal.Arriving in Buenos Aires you will overnight before arriving in the beautiful frontier town Ushuia where you will be met by Skip, Steve and the crew.
Boarding the bespoke 75ft Antarctic ice rated sailing yaght Pelagic Australis, you will cruise down the Beagle Channel before the epic crossing of the infamous Drake Passage.
Weather depending, you will arrive in the mirror calm waters of Antarctica after 3-4 nights at sea where the world opens up to the majesty of the Antarctic continent, huge colonies of adelie penguin, breaching whales, crabeater seal, clouds of krill and the ever present menace of Antarctica's apex predator - the leopard seal.
Your crew and naturalists will take you on an amazing journey through the Gerlach Straights, past the base of Port Lockroy and on to the remote Hovgard Island. Skip's on board chef will serve delicious meals, and you will be able to dive and snorkel in the calm, icy waters.
Antarctica is a place like no other but it is a hard one. It is important that all those partaking in such a voyage of discovery have a love of the ocean and better still a love of big ocean sailing.
Throughout 2006 we will be offering additional exclusive sailing expeditions aboard Pelagic Australis and Skip's team to South Georgia to view the epic elephant seal rutt and to Svalbard (Spitsbergen) to view Polar bears and Arctic wildlife). Please contact us for more details...
